Thoughts of a Customer
In June 2002 I dropped to 9 and half stone. As a 5ft 10” thirty something having the physique of your average, all be it hairy, twelve year old was not what I wanted. I’d been a regular exercise class goer for years, a cyclist and a swimmer so I felt pretty fit, but didn’t look it. I decided something had to be done!
I went along for an introductory chat with the Escape personal trainer. I was a bit unsure what sort of reception I’d get as complaining of being underweight is not something that usually gets much sympathy and wanting to bulk up seemed a bit vain.
However what I got was helpful approach of “no problem. I can help you achieve what you’re after”.
Over the following months I was given; advice on what to eat, regular monitoring of weight and fat measurements etc, exercise programs specifically made for the personal sessions and me.
The sessions - provides time to exercise with someone who is easy going and encouraging.
Technique - Craig makes sure that this is spot on. I’ve done lunges for years but with Craig making sure that I do them correctly they feel much more intense. This makes sure that the best use is being made of my time exercising and gets the best results. You also tend to carry these good habits on when you’re working by yourself.
Encouragement - if a program said to do 10 reps that’s what I did but having Craig urging you on gets you to the 13th rep, and beyond, and gain better results in a shorter time.
Safety - no way would I have gone for some of the weights that Craig has had me using but his experience helps him to know what you’re capable of and he’s there if it gets too much.
Expertise - Craig knows what exercises to do and for what purpose, I don’t.
Variety - no two sessions are the same so boredom is not an obstacle.
So here I am 15 months later, two stone heavier and with that extra weight exactly where I want it.
There have been benefits to over a year of personal training over and above the immediate training sessions.
• My posture has improved. All that breathing at the right pointing exercises and the increased muscle mass and tone keeps your body properly upright.
• Clothes fit properly. Perhaps because I now have the chest and shoulders to support them.
• Feeling good about my body. That’s not just a female issue.
• Being handed jars to open and being able to open them.
• Favourable comments from female friends.
• My wife loves the results as well.
For me it’s been well worth it!
